I have accumulated quite the collection of washi tape and it keeps growing! It’s just so darn cute, and I always seem to help myself to several rolls every time they go on sale!
I’ve looked at many dispensers at the store and they are really expensive and they don’t even hold very much! So, I decided to make my own! While it doesn’t DISPENSE my whole collection, it does STORE all of it.
Here’s what you will need:
- A shoe box that is just under 12 inches wide
- Two 12-inch dowel rods
- Pack of two 10-inch hack saw blades
- Duct Tape
- Exacto Knife
- Glue Gun
Click through the image gallery below for each step or watch the full video tutorial below!
Find where the dowel rods need to be placed on your shoe box and mark the locations
Cut out grooves on each side for the dowel rods to sit in
Wrap around the top with first layer of duct tape, cutting slits in each corner
Fold down the tape on all sides
Use scissors to cute through the duct tape over the grooves
Cover the rest of the box in duct tape
Roll some duct tape around the dowel rods
Apply hot glue to the inside long edges of the box, one side at a time
Press down the hacksaw blades on each side
Make sure the blades are peeking just above the box!
Slide your tape onto the dowel rods – makes sure they are all facing the same direction!
All done! Store any excess rolls in the box below and put your most used rolls on the rods to dispense easily!
I also made a smaller one just for my holiday washi tape using a wax paper box!
For the smaller one you will need:
- Empty Wax Paper Box with Blade at top of box (not bottom-some are like this)
- Duct Tape
- 12 inch dowel rod
- Command Velcro Strips
Take a empty wax paper box with the blade on top as seen here
Cover the whole box with duct tape for stability
I added washi tape too! Then you just need to slip the tape onto a dowel rod and just drop it in!
That’s about it! Ready to use!
I also added some strips of command velcro to hold it closed
I hope you found this useful! Hope you enjoyed! See you again soon!
