Here is an idea for a gift that would be great for an expecting mother. A great momento that can be kept for years. Better than that flimsy one they give you at the clinic, anyway!l!
I made this one for my brother and his girlfriend, and I think I will probably make one for my expecting sister as well once I get a hold of one of her ultrasounds!
Here is a list of what you need:
- Cotton Inkjet Fabric Sheets (find them here)
- Inkjet Printer
- Black Fabric
- SCOTCHGARD – Fabric Protector
- Black Thread
- Sewing Machine
- Pillow Stuffing
- Manual Sewing Needle
Just print out your photo/ultrasound at the highest quality on your printer to ensure maximum saturation of ink on fabric.
The next step is to coat the printed fabric with Scotchgard to seal the fabric. Printer ink is NOT machine washable, even with Scotchgard, you should only spot clean the fabric.
Cut a piece of black fabric using your printed fabric as a guide.
Pin “right” sides together and sew all the way around the edges, leaving a small gap at the bottom.
Stuff the pillow to desired firmness and stitch the hole shut and you’re done!
