So, in a previous post I discussed that much of my sanity is due to the existence of the internet, and this is a thought that remains on my mind.
This week the Fault in Our Stars Trailer was released and so I watched it, even though I had not read the book yet, I thought maybe it would give me a little idea about what to expect, and thereby perhaps either encourage or discourage me to finally do so.
Well, if you watch my video below, you can see I got a little emotional watching it, so I was motivated to read it finally, so I picked it up on Thursday night, stayed up really late reading it, woke up Friday morning (day off thank goodness!), and finished it that morning. It was a total page turner. There were plot twists I didn’t expect, I laughed and I cried. It just felt really real, and the writing really spoke to me.
I think it felt so real because things didn’t always turn out the way you would expect. Just when you would think, they are finally going to get their wish, the reality of life would hit. “The world is not a wish granting factory” is quoted several times and as annoying as that is….it really is true. While I am all about living for making dreams become reality, it is important to remember that sometimes just because you WISH something to be, it does not mean it will happen that way. I think you can make dreams come true, but you cannot wish them into being, you have to work for them, and when or if they do not come to pass the way you would like, I then like to apply one of my favorite Dumbledore quotes, “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live”.
Life is a journey, it has it’s ups and downs. We all have hopes and dreams. Keep fighting for them, but don’t be discouraged when they don’t happen the way you might expect. It probably means something EVEN BETTER is on the horizon.
This type of thinking goes hand in hand with my newly found life motto, ‘Don’t Forget To Be Awesome’ or DFTBA. Not only do I want to try to be awesome everyday, I also hope to find the awesome in everyday. I talk more about this in my video, which you can watch below! Hope you all have a great week, and DFTBA!!!
